All Texas License Applicants are Subject to a Criminal Background Check

All license applicants are subject to a criminal background check before receiving application approval from the Texas Real Estate Commission. If you have any criminal offenses, unpaid judgements, disciplinary action taken against a professional license, or have performed unlicensed activity in the past, you should consider filing a "Fitness Determination" form with TREC before purchasing courses or applying for a license. TREC will use this form to determine whether your moral character meets their qualifications for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.

Updates to Class Attendance Requirements and Makeup Sessions

Section 535.65(g) (1) (D) of Texas Real Estate Commission rules addresses the presentation of courses and make up sessions for classroom courses. This rule applies to the 15 hours of classroom instruction a student receives when completing a course offered through combination delivery. If a student misses less than 1/3 of the 15 hour classroom portion (5 hours) of a combination delivery course, the student may make up the time. A student who has missed more than 1/3 of the 15 hour classroom portion (>5 hours) when completing the classroom portion of a combination delivery course, must automatically be dropped from the course without credit. Dropped status may not be changed by makeup sessions, and any hours accumulated by a student may not be transferred to any other course, prior to being dropped from a course.

For a Student who has Missed Five or Less Hours

• $10.00 per hour of makeup per hour
• The student attends the full number of hours that were missed through live course instruction
• The student attends the corresponding course sessions that were missed; and a
• $10.00 exam proctoring fee; (or)
• $35.00 transfer fee into Online or LIVE if they are wanting to retake the entire course. No per hour/no proctoring fee

For a Student who has Missed More than Five Hours, they Must Retake the Course in it's Entirety

• $50.00 fee to re-enroll into the same class (Blended Classroom, ChampionsLive!, or Online-Correspondence)
• A certificate of course completion will not be issued until the student has passed the closed book exam. The exam may not be taken until the entire course is completed.

Students have Two Attempts at the Qualifying Course Exam

In accordance with TREC rules and regulations, Champions students who fail to pass the exam for a 30-hour Qualifying Education (QE) or Sales Agent Apprenticeship Education (SAE) course twice must retake the course before attempting to pass the exam for a third time. The student is only required to pay a $50 retake fee in order to retake the course.

Timeline for Taking Class Exams

Per TREC rules, a 30-hour Qualifying Education or Sales Agent Apprenticeship Education (SAE) course exam should not be accessed until the required amount of TREC course hours have been spent in the course. A TREC day is considered 12-hours, therefore a 30-hour course exam should not be accessed until 2.5 days after you have registered for any 30-hour course. If you have registered for multiple 30-hour courses, each subsequent exam should be 2.5 days after you finished the previous exam. Please see chart below for required exam dates:

You may take multiple exams in a day BUT only after the requisite time period elapses. For example, you could take exams for courses 1, 2, and 3 on the 8th day or anytime convenient for you after the 8th day.
